I mentioned in a blog post MANY years ago that my year is split into two categories: gardening and Christmas. It still holds true. I'm either in one or the other. In my Southern California coastal climate, I’m blessed to enjoy the gardening season for much of the year, which is why my love for flowers has kicked into high gear once again. These days, I'm either buying them, photographing them or planting them.
This year, I'm a little nuts over dahlias, ranunculus, hydrangeas, wonderfully fragrant stock, roses of all kinds, and pretty much anything with a stem long enough to cut and use in my arrangements. I'm also trying anemones for the first time and can't wait to plant more larkspur since it did so well for me last year.
Fun fact: I’m not into football. Like…at all. Honestly, I didn't even really know who was playing the big game yesterday until the coin toss, LOL. But I do know that when my 29-year-old son sends a text and wants to get the family together to hang out for the big game, this mama gets the food going!
For me, having our family together all at the same time is priceless. I love the moments when the little camera in my brain clicks and a simple, sweet moment is forever captured. When we're not doing anything special. Just BEING. That's when I thank God for answered prayers. Prayers for keeping us all safe and in His care. Moments I will never take for granted.
And I'm thankful for you, as well...
Heavenly Father, I pray for the reader of these words. I pray your peace and presence in EVERY situation as we go into this new week. May we reflect your light and love to those around us. Be comfort and strength to those who have suffered recent loss and those who feel hopeless in their situations. Thank you, God. YOU alone are our one true hope.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace,
that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
(Hebrews 4:16)
