So, my husband retired about 2 weeks ago and now EVERY day is Saturday, LOL. Not only is it hard to tell what day it is, but the clock doesn’t really matter much anymore either. Kinda weird. Kinda good all at the same time. However, I think we’ll do just fine in this new season. We truly enjoy each other's company, and over the years we’ve learned to give each other space to do the things we love. We’ve been doing life together for 33+ years and I couldn’t be happier.
Another random thought…
I’ve been plagued lately by the words of “Yoda” (from Star Wars). Seriously, even in my sleep, I keep hearing “Do or do not. There is no try.” Uggh, thanks, oh wise one.
But I have been trying. And I’m finding that even in my trying and in my discouragement, there is always something to learn. Always something to take away from every experience, whether a positive outcome or not. And it’s ok because that’s how this life works. Besides, there is always coffee and spring is on the way.
And let us not grow weary of doing good,
for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
(Gal. 6:9)
Speaking of spring: I’ve been to the nursery a couple times recently and walked away with several new pretties for the garden (after paying for them, of course, LOL). But mostly, I go to recharge my batteries. To hit that inner reset button and breathe in all the beauty of early spring blooms. I think it's important to do the things that feed the soul and keep us centered, and for me that usually involves a trip to my favorite nursery...or sometimes, just a walk around my garden.
It always amazes me how the garden, my special space where life is determined to spring forth new and bright despite the many obstacles, is where I return when my heart is heavy. Even in its weedy, untidy state, the garden is a visible sign of hope both on the bright, happy days, and also when it seems the world has turned upside down. It's a reminder that because Jesus is eternal, hope is eternal. God is good ALL the time.
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them,
for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
(Deut. 31:6)
Also, I launched an Etsy shop last January (though it seems I’m the only one who knows about it, LOL). I’ve posted several listings offering my photos as canvas prints and digital downloads. I’ve had some traffic, but I thought I’d start things off with a sale...because why not? You're welcome to drop by and have a look around.
So, I'm off to another busy day; housecleaning, laundry, making soup later and hoping to get a few more photos done. I do hope you'll take a few minutes today to breathe in the beauty of the new season. I hope you will be inspired to create something lovely either for yourself or for someone special. May God bless you today and always and remember that because of Jesus, we always, always have hope.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
(2 Cor. 4:18)
